I have received a number of complaints about the crew of the year award 2009 being a skam due to ADD having over 100 votes in 1 day. But surely it is due to this fresh video going up on youtube just the other day.......... right?..

Circle line extension

In an upgrade to one of the capital’s oldest Tube lines, whose trains have previously travelled in loops, it is being extended to Hammersmith, in West London, with a tail added to the existing track. There will no longer be a through service between the west and north sides of the current Circle: accidental snoozers will be woken up to change trains at Edgware Road.
From December 13, trains will begin in Hammersmith and run along the “tadpole tail” of the track — currently the Hammersmith and City Line. They will then complete the existing Circle Line in a clockwise loop, but will discontinue at Edgware Road before returning back to Hammersmith in an anticlockwise direction.

TfL has decided to retain the name of the line, even though continuous loops will be no more.

TfL said that work was under way or planned to make services better for commuters in East London, including improvements to the Docklands Light Railway, the construction of Crossrail and the extension of the East London Line, which has been closed for its upgrade since December 2007.

First new Tube train in a decade enters service

London Underground has introduced the first new generation train for the Victoria Line as it begins phasing a Bombardier-built fleet into passenger service.
The new trains are part of the £750m Victoria line upgrade which, along with new track and signalling.

Heard abit of negative feedback lately, it is welcome and I thank you for it. Some of it is amusing. A Twitter fan has told me to fix up about having a go at other websites on the neighbours post. I'm sure them guys know I'm just messing around (as I always am), even though the only thing I dissed was Twitter. Which I always will do, fuck fix up how about lighten up. Another said this blog 'swings off the nuts of MSK' which I found pretty funny... Obviously I can only answer for myself, but let me assure you I do not always post what I like... but I'm sure anyone reasonable will have gathered that...

Still behind on a few things right now, but lets get on with the proper stuff.

This all looks very gay indeed. Who worries that much to be aware of where they will step off onto the platform? And not only that, but when you get into a normal travel routine, you know roughly where abouts you'll get off on the platform anyway as you more than likely have done the journey a few times... not that it really matters does it...?

If you want to see what the London Underground looked like in the second world war, it's worth popping over to Colindale station this weekend - 20th - 21st June.

AMF CREW

An Australian graffiti gang of "six talented artists" were jailed today for their part in a vandalism spree that caused more than £70,000-worth of damage.
The gang were known as the AMF and covered Tube and over-ground trains throughout London with their creations using tags like "quack", "puse" and "kelts". They signed their work so that other graffiti vandals could see it and admire their skills.
They also left the gang's mark, the acronym AMF which seemed to stand for a variety of different phrases including "Australian Mother F*****s" and "Australian Misfits".
The AMF launched graffiti attacks in the capital over a six month period between late summer and Boxing Day last year and all six men were involved to a greater or lesser extent, London's Southwark Crown Court heard.

British Transport Police detectives also discovered evidence that the gang had left their mark in Australia and Japan, after discovering photographic evidence of their previous attacks.
The six men who were sentenced today were caught when they travelled to railway sidings in Ilford, East London after a Christmas meal together.

Two patrolling police officers heard the rattle of cans and smelt paint and called for backup.
Scott Mulhearn, 21, Adrian Hing, 22, Luke Vassell, 23, Jack Shumack, 24, Alex Wisman, 24 and Marcus Wisman, 22, were all charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage.
Marcus Wisman was sentenced to 16 months for his part in the string of attacks, Mulhearn received 14 months imprisonment, Shumack and Hing were both sentenced to 12 months, Vassell received a 10 month sentence and Alex Wisman was jailed for eight months.
All of the men will serve half their sentence on licence.

Sentencing Judge Michael Gledhill said: "Each of you are intelligent well-educated young men hard working and capable of holding down jobs. Each of you are talented artists, in terms of graffiti artists, so to have to see the six of you sitting in the dock of this court about to be sentenced is quite appalling."

The court heard that each of the men have an interest in graphic art - Marcus Wisman, Shumack, Hing and Vassell have all either worked as graphic designers or hope to train to do so.
The extent of the damage caused by the AMF was discovered when police searches following their arrest on Boxing Day found photographs and videos of their other attacks.
Investigators were able to easily link the group to a series of other graffiti incidents using their personal tags and gang acronym which they used to mark their work.
The gang was involved in the vandalism of three Central Line Tube trains costing more than £10,000 to rectify, one Metropolitan Line Tube train, which caused £1,400-worth of damage and £15,000-worth of damage to two National Express trains.
The offence on Boxing Day caused £15,000-worth of damage.

All in all, investigators have estimated that the gang was responsible for at least £70,000-worth of damage, a figure which does not include the cost to the railways and passengers of removing the trains from service.

BTP chief superintendent Mark Newton said: "I hope that this case sends out a strong message that the British Transport Police and the courts do not look kindly upon those who enter this country to vandalise private property in this way."
None of the men, who entered the country at different times from summer 2008 onwards, will be deported following their sentence, Judge Gledhill ruled.

As patience wore thin commuters were warned to brace themselves for further strikes within days.
Defiant leader of the Rail Maritime and Transport Union Bob Crow hailed the 48-hour walkout, which ends at 7pm tonight, as a 'solid success' and threatened further action if the union's demands on pay and jobs were not met.
He said: 'I'm really pleased, it was a solid success. The whole city ground to a halt and the disruption it caused was all over the papers.' Link

Well done to that female that went into labour today whilst on a certain central line tube. Disrupting services and adding delays onto peoples lives. Seriously, why the fuck do people feel the need to hike around 8+ months gone. 

Only 2 births ever on the network, the first being at Elephant n Castle station in the 1920's I believe. Second one actually came December just gone where a woman rolled off the tube onto the platform at Kingsbury to give the station a good blessing.

Gang hurled bricks at Tube trains

There have been other similar attacks on the Central Line Commuters escaped unhurt when a gang of youths threw bricks and stones at passing Tube trains in west London. The group targeted several trains on the Central Line in the Acton area on Wednesday night. Several windows were smashed and the trains affected had to be taken out of service as a result. British Transport Police (BTP) are investigating the "reckless vandalism", which follows a number of previous attacks on the same line. Insp Michael McGinty said: "This was a reckless act of vandalism and I cannot emphasise strongly enough the dangers associated with this type of crime." Police want any witnesses to the attacks to get in touch. A spokesman for Transport for London (TfL) said on Thursday: "A number of Central Line trains were damaged by vandals yesterday evening in the Acton area. "Several train windows were broken, resulting in the trains being taken out of service. There were no injuries to passengers or staff." BBC

So it turns out the London Underground has won this years 'Best Metro 2009' award. Surely someone is taking the piss? All them delays and suspended services, muggings, strikes, DEATHS....

London's Tube network which carries more than one billion people a year has been judged best in Europe by the transit industry's Metro Awards.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "The London Underground is the artery through which the lifeblood of London flows.

"It is tremendous news London's Tube team have been named champions of Europe.

"Despite the challenges of weekend engineering works, Londoners know the value of the Tube and why we are investing billions to improve it."

Thousands of commuters in London faced Budget day travel chaos when a major Tube line was suspended because of a 24-hour strike by workers.

Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union based on the Victoria Line walked out at 9pm on Tuesday over a series of disputes, including allegations of bullying and harassment of union members.

The action, which the union said was "solidly supported" led to the suspension of the entire line today, forcing commuters to seek other forms of transport.

An escalator & lift engineer on the London Underground has got a bit of following by re-mixing sounds he's sampled while working on the Tube into dance music. 28 year old Ben Langham carries a digital recorder on the job and captures sounds of escalators, hacksaws, brakes and trains running over tracks.
He said "I liked the idea of having this concept, noises from behind the scenes on the Tube which the general public don't get to listen to."

Cash crisis could halt tube improvements

A DISAGREEMENT over cost could see tube trains becoming more crowded and improvements on London Underground abandoned, the London Assembly has said.
Transport for London (TfL) and Tube Lines, the maintenance firm for London Underground, cannot agree on the cost of upgrade work.
After maintenance firm Metronet collapsed in 2007, TfL began completing their projects, but about half the 150 refurbishment plans set to be finished by 2010 have been set back as late as 2017.

Tube line to cross South London

SOUTH London will get its first east-west Tube line following an announcement yesterday by the Government and London Mayor Boris Johnson.
Work on Phase 2 will begin in three months and is due to finish in 2012.
It will see a line running from Clapham Junction, to Docklands and the City, via Wandsworth Road, Clapham High Street, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Queens Road Peckham and Surrey Quays.
A cash shortfall means the planned station, Surrey Canal Road, between Queens Road Peckham and Surrey Quays, has yet to be decided

Transport bosses came under fire today for letting London's network "go to sleep" over Christmas as closures threaten to severely disrupt travel.
The Metropolitan and Jubilee line will be shut down on 26 December, with station closures on six other lines - including Northern, Central and Hammersmith & City.
A Saturday service will run on the Underground until New Year's Eve, when there is free travel throughout the night, although 15 stations will be closed or have limited opening.
