Beach party Cancelled!

"Ladies & Gents.. Sorry to break the news on this one.. Due to not having a full 'Reclaim The Beach' team at hand this weekend we have to postpone. One of our core members DJ Dark is currently hospitalized [making good recover but an unlucky bast**d] and several others are out of the country for personal reasons..

We could turn up with a sound system an rock the beach regardless, but considering over 2000/3000 people are expected at each event we would prefer not to go ahead without a full team in place to secure and ensure you all have the best possible time.

To put it another way:
We dont want to do anything 'Half-Arsed'..

Sorry for the last minute let down :( "

Special guest

A review from a visitor to Peoples Army, hosted by HQ and promoted by us. Many of you may remember seeing her there, I also thought to myself 'who is this', but I greeted her on arrival. She was definently not the only female there though!

"So I drove up to Brixton from deep south west and had unknown fm on all the way, which wasn't bad, but at that time of day was a bit of a warm up for the night to come. On a Friday at that time its a young Scottish man who doesn't talk too much and lets his tunes ride, so I like listening to him.

When I got to my friends' and knocked on the steel door between the Honest Food Shop and the Albert, they weren't in, which they had said might be the case, so I went for a wander. I came into the covered market and there was this shop on the left with a few crates outside and people hanging about. I had a look at the posters on the window; save Lambeth Women's Project, sensei.fm *essential hip hop teachings* - my kinda shop. But I couldn't work out what they were selling - there were CDs on the one wall, and behind a grill, all these spray paint cannisters - I think I had stumbled upon a modern head shop for the yoot.

I was blown away. The mixing desk arrived, the speakers boomed into life, we all turned and heard the bass start, the crowd moved towards the doors. First up was the guy who started it whose name I forget, and he had it to back it up. He had his hoody up, his head bobbing, shoulders going side to side, a nice bare but deep beat to play with; I liked the way he used his hands, he started easy, he was quite funny, but then he started on about the streets where he grew up, the yoot, the elders, the changes, the difference between the generations. There was a bit about his Mum. I liked the way he moved. I could see why he was the main guy. We all shut up and listened to him with respect."

Meeting of Styles

"We're hosting the london edition of Meeting of Styles on the 6th June.

We're taking over an entire warehouse and painting it in the lead up to the 6th.  We're flying in ten european artists and then holding an open air paint jam off brick lane on the 6th and a huge afterparty in the warehouse with doors opening at 5PM - BBQ, Bar, Beats and pieces.

If you could link to our blog or facebook or ticket site for the warehouse afterparty that would be great.

Thanks a lot."

Rail news

Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union based on the Victoria line will walk out at 9pm tomorrow evening for a second time over safety equipment and claims of bullying and victimisation.

Deutsche Bahn is close to securing a concession from Eurotunnel that would allow the German national railway to send its high-speed trains through the Channel tunnel and offer direct services from Germany to London.

Branson: Let me invest in railways
SIR RICHARD BRANSON is urging ministers to hand the private sector a greater role in the railways by giving entrepreneurs freedom to invest in new trains, stations and track.

There is £195m being invested across the southeastern network, and they have a new trailer for the bullets, probably the gayest thing I have ever seen & heard.

HQ may have moved to a bigger shop but it still aint big enough! Big up all the crew that was down there for the open mic session on Friday evening. Was more of a writers bench than anything.. Next one in 2 weeks I'll post up nearer the time.
Spotted some runners yesterday on SET's, 2 panels not sure who or what couldn't get a good view, keep a lookout.
